As a rugby player I've always looked up to the All Blacks as the pinnacle of international rugby. The players embodied the highest level of skill, commitment, success in the rugby world. During our time here in New Zealand we were lucky enough to have an All Blacks test right here in Wellington, so we grabbed our tickets the first chance we had. The tickets we purchased were behind the goal post and on the front row of the second level. From my experience with American stadiums I was unsure of how our seats would look for how much we were paying.
Westpac Stadium was considerably different from any pro stadium you would go to in America. First off, the prices in this stadium were substantially better than the prices in any of our stadiums. I was happy to much on a bunch of fresh donuts that only cost a couple dollars, and were an absolutely perfect snack to take your mind off of the cold rainy weather. Secondly, Westpac was nice because the entire seating area of the stadium was covered while the field itself was open to the weather. Lastly, the stadium atmosphere was nice because everyone stayed seated during the duration of the game besides when something exciting happened or a player scored.
The game itself wasn't incredibly exciting compared to the first test match in Auckland, but it was still an awesome experience. In the end we got to meet Luke Whitelock, who is the 8 man for the All Blacks and was nice enough to take his picture with us. For anyone who is interested in the All Blacks there is a very well made documentary on Amazon prime called All or Nothing that really captures everything that goes into their success.
Eoin and I will be traveling to the south island tomorrow for around 10 days. We will be posting short updates on here as often as possible as we make our way around.
